Cast of Characters

I’ve always wanted to make a cast of characters for myself, possibly to make myself feel like a Truman or because it makes me so important.

These are not in order of appearance or importance or any of that shit. I go with the flow.

  • Wade - boyfriend. Not really ‘dating’, as we live together and have for…3 years? Been together for 4 in February of 2008. He’s two inches shorter than me and has really soft skin on his feet. He always makes me feel better, and laugh, and sometimes I do realize that the timing of his entrance into my life probably saved it; I’ll always remember that and be grateful. I’m pretty sure me and him are in it for the long haul, and I’m slowly becoming okay with that. He is a musician, plays a lot of guitar but enjoys any stringed instruments, and some fantasies purchases of his are bagpipes, sitar, trumpet, piano, etc. He loves his Jeep and his guitars, but most of all, he loves me. And he has a really nice tooshie.
  • Julie - known since sophmore year of high school. I saw her in guitar class and was fascinated by her appearance. She was wrapped in a big bulky sweater and blue jeans, and had this bright red short curly hair. I thought she looked interesting, so I went and sat next to her and yapped in her ear for an hour; I wouldn’t shut up. I think she became resigned to becoming my friend and now she’s like my twin sister. We’ve been through good, bad, fabulous, really horrible. Long distance trips and tears. Boyfriends and no boyfriends. Virgins and not virgins. Lots of cigarettes have been smoked, a lot of driving, a lot of loud music, a lot of beaching, a lot of schooling, a lot of dreaming about the future.
  • Damon - friend. Partner in LTM. Never met him. Weird, you say? Look where you are now, dork, reading someones blog on the internet. I’ve known him for like 5 years, through his 2 year absence and email keeping-uppage, package exchanges, nasty girlfriends and lots of moving and crying. Now he’s an intern at a radio station, which is what I always knew he would do, has found a lovely girlfriend who goes to art school in Italy a lot, and he also helps me keep LTM updated. Lucky me.
  • Ivy - My cat. A domestic medium-haired, black, with white toes and a white chest, yellow eyes. Rescued her from sure death, as she is a black cat, and she’s a bit on the small side cos she was a stray and nutritionally defunct. I think she may be a runt, too. But, she is absolutely lovely. Wakes me up every morning, keeps me company when I’m lost in a romance novel, and is always up for a cuddle. She’s also wacky enough to make me know for sure shes meant for us. Normal cats we don’t do. By the way, I’m not a cat lady. I’m not even a cat person. I used to be a dog person. Now I know I just love animals, so bring ‘em on.
  • Seanny/Sean - a friend I forcedly made about a year after I moved to this part of Florida. He was having a really, really bad day, and of course, me not knowing him, I went up to him and invited him over my house to hang out and meet my boyfriend, who he would surely like. He said no. The next day he said yes, and its been great ever since. I made friends with him the same way I made friends with Julie–I just didn’t shut up. I annoyed the hell out of both of them, and for some reason, they’re my friends. Sean always makes me laugh, is fiercely a third/fourth generation Irish/Slovak (emphasis on the Irish part), which is sometimes annoying, and is always there when I need him.
  • Kyle - my younger brother, by 4 years. He looks like me and acts like me, and because of this we’ve gotten into some monumental fights, which we quickly forgive each other for. He always manages to crack me up, and I never worry about him. He’s got a lovely heart and a good mind, and is a good kid.
  • Thomas - Ah, Thomas. My younger brother by 7 years. Quite possibly the person who plagued me the most in childhood. I remember when he was born, being upset that I was getting a third brother. Little did I know how much he would really bug me in future years. He thinks hes 35, and talks and acts like a politician. Hes weirdly interested by morbid things, like the sinking of the Titanic and the war in Iraq. He can be extremely thoughtful when he wants to be, and doesn’t think before he speaks. Basically, he’s a carbon copy of myself, just slightly worse. This could be why we clash so much. He has a heart of gold, a soft gooey one, and is stupendously intelligent. Lots of love there.
  • Beth - my younger sister, by ten years. Don’t worry, this is the last one. My only sister. So ecstatic when she was born. I jumped up and down on my bed. We shared a room until I was about 16. She used to nap on my chest and lots of girly things have been shared, like hair, nails, and makeup doing. We have a bittersweet relationship, because we love each other so much, but the ten year gap between us prevents us from bonding and spending any time together. She’s our family’s sweetheart, the baby, the Helen to go to war for.

About this blog...

The title of this blog is from a quote I read somewhere, "The trouble is, I have to go with so much still to say." It's a resonator, like the guitar. Early 20's, college, music, dreamy, blah blah blah....
